Same seed, what changes?
Since 1.18, Java and Bedrock share a lot more than they used to. The same seed gives you the same biomes, while structures are completely different.
| What | On Bedrock |
|---|---|
| Biomes and terrain | The same as Java since 1.18. A biome you find on Java is in the same spot on Bedrock. |
| Seeds | 64-bit numbers since 1.18.30, just like Java. Text seeds turn into the same number too. |
| Structures | Same ones, but not where Java puts them. Bedrock uses its own random numbers to place them. |
| Strongholds | Three under villages, plus many more scattered around the world. The village ones are often 1k to 5.5k blocks out. |
| Slime chunks | The same in every Bedrock world, whatever the seed. |
| Spawn | Always an approximation, always within 20 blocks of the real one on all the dozens of worlds I personally tested. |
| The Nether | Same biomes and structures, generated differently from Java's. |
| The End | Approximate. End cities are where the game puts them, but the small islands may not match. |
| World types | No Large Biomes and no Amplified on Bedrock. |
Which Bedrock version do I pick?
Pick the version the world was created with. Not sure? Then it's probably the newest one: phones and consoles update by themselves, so almost everyone is on the latest. You can see your version at the bottom of the game's title screen. One thing to know: in an old world, the chunks you already explored keep their old structures while new chunks follow the new version.

FAQ
Does a Java seed work on Bedrock?
Partly! Since 1.18 the same seed gives the same terrain and biomes on both editions, so that cherry grove next to spawn will be there. Structures, strongholds and the spawn are placed differently, though, so the village won't be. Open the seed with the switch on Bedrock to see where things really are.
Why are structures in different places?
Bedrock picks structure spots with a different random number generator (a Mersenne Twister, for the curious) and most structures only look at part of the seed. Same seed, same biomes, different villages. That's why Java seed lists don't work on Bedrock, and why Seeder has Bedrock ones.
Is the spawn point exact?
Not quite. Nobody knows exactly how Bedrock picks the spawn since 1.18, so Seeder estimates it. On the 56 worlds I checked against a real Bedrock server, the estimate was always within 20 blocks of the real spawn. Close enough to find the village next to it.
Why is the End approximate?
End cities are exactly where the game puts them, but nobody has figured out yet how Bedrock generates the small outer islands. The map may show an island that isn't there, or miss one. The finder doesn't search the End on either edition.
Are Realms, consoles and phones the same?
Yes. Every Bedrock device and every Realm generates the same world from the same seed and version, so it doesn't matter what you play on. That includes Pocket Edition (MCPE), the old name of Bedrock on phones.
Does Seeder read my world?
No. Seeder never opens your save or connects to your Realm: you type the seed and everything runs in your browser. To find a world's seed, open its settings and look under Game, or type /seed if cheats are on.
