Minecraft seed cracker: can you find the seed of a server?
What a seed cracker actually is, what works on a server that isn't yours, and what to do once you've got the seed.
Updated on .
Let's get this out of the way: no website can take a world name or a screenshot and give you its seed, and if one says it can, it's lying. A seed is just a number the game turns into a world (the wiki explains it well). Going backwards, from the world to the number, means feeding a program enough stuff you measured in the world until only one seed fits.
That's what a seed cracker does. You need to be in the world (no cheats needed), a mod on your side, and a lot of patience. Seeder is not a seed cracker: it goes the other way, from a seed to its map. But once you have the seed, this is the place to find out everything about it.
Your own world? No need to crack anything
On Java singleplayer, type /seed in the chat (it works even with cheats off). On Bedrock, the seed is in the world settings, under Game. On a Realm, download a backup of the world, open it in singleplayer and type /seed. All the cases are in how to find your Minecraft seed.
A server that isn't yours
Just ask first: most admins are happy to share the seed, and some even put it in the rules or on Discord. If they won't, on Java you can use a client-side cracker. SeedcrackerX is a Fabric mod that looks at what you see in the game, like the End pillars, dungeons and where structures are, and narrows it down to one seed. It only reads what your game already shows you, so it works on any Java server, but you'll need to walk around a fair bit, and it can't beat a server with a custom world generator.
On Bedrock there's no mod like that, and structures only use part of the seed, so a cracker that only looks at structures ends up with lots of possible seeds. Seeder can help you check them: open each one on the seed map in Bedrock mode and compare the villages and biomes with what you see in the game.
What to do once you have the seed
Open it on the seed map to see spawn, every structure, the strongholds and the biomes, in the Overworld, the Nether and the End. The structure finder gives you the closest villages, ancient cities, trial chambers or fortresses to where you are, with coords, like /locate without cheats. And the slime chunk finder tells you where to build your slime farm.
Questions
Is a seed cracker cheating?
Depends on the server. A cracker only reads what the game already shows you, it's just very patient about it. Still, some servers ban it in their rules, and on competitive ones knowing the seed is a big advantage. Ask before using one.
Can you find a seed from a screenshot or a video?
Not reliably, and definitely not with a website. People did it by hand for a few famous pictures (the title screen panorama took a whole team and a lot of computing power), measuring the terrain and searching through seeds. It's a whole project, not something a tool does for you.
Can Seeder crack a seed?
Nope. Seeder turns a seed into its map and finds seeds with the biomes and structures you want. It never looks at the world you play in, and nothing you type gets uploaded anywhere.
My seed is a word, not a number. Which one do I use?
Either one works. The game always turns the same text into the same number, and so does Seeder: type the word in the seed box and the map opens on its number.
