# Structure finder

Updated on 2026-10-04. Source: https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/

Find the nearest villages, ancient cities, trial chambers, mansions, fortresses or End cities to your coordinates in any Minecraft Java or Bedrock world.

Same as /locate, but for any seed, for any version and without the need to have cheats enabled. Pick the structure you're looking for, type your seed and where you are. You'll instantly get the nearest matching ones with their coordinates, distance and direction.

It works both on Java and Bedrock: the same seed has different structures on the two editions, so remember to pick the correct edition.

The tool runs in the browser: [open it](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/).

## How to use it

1. Pick Java or Bedrock and the structure you are looking for.
2. Type your seed (/seed in the chat to see it) and choose your Minecraft version.
3. Insert your X and Z coordinates (press F3 to see them). For Nether and End structures, use your coordinates in that dimension.
4. The list automatically updates as you type. You can copy the coordinates or directly a /tp command. The pin icon opens the structure on the seed map.

## Structures you can find

- A [village](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=village) is a group of buildings in the Overworld where villagers live, together with cats, iron golems and farm animals. Wandering traders may stop there now and then. Trade, loot the chests and watch out for raids. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Village))
- An [ancient city](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=ancient-city) is a huge ruined palace deep in the deep dark, at Y -51. Its chests hold loot you will not find anywhere else, like disc fragments, echo shards and armor trims. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ancient_City))
- A [trial chamber](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=trial-chamber) is an underground complex of copper and tuff, built as a mid-game combat challenge. Trial spawners, vaults and breezes only exist there, so it is the only way to get breeze rods, heavy cores and a mace. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Trial_Chambers))
- A [woodland mansion](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=mansion) is a giant dark oak building in dark forests and pale gardens, usually far from spawn. Vindicators and evokers live there, and it is one of the few places with totems of undying. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Woodland_Mansion))
- An [ocean monument](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=monument) is a rare underwater temple in deep oceans, guarded by guardians and elder guardians. It is the only place where sponges generate. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ocean_Monument))
- A [stronghold](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=stronghold) is an underground maze in the Overworld, and the only place with an End portal. Eyes of ender lead you there. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Stronghold))
- A [desert pyramid](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=desert-pyramid) is a sandstone temple in deserts. Four chests hide under its floor over a TNT trap, and a buried room holds suspicious sand to brush. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Desert_Pyramid))
- A [jungle pyramid](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=jungle-pyramid) is a mossy cobblestone temple in jungles, with two chests: one past a corridor of arrow traps, one behind a lever puzzle. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Jungle_Pyramid))
- A [swamp hut](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=swamp-hut), or witch hut, is a small house where witches and a black cat spawn. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Swamp_Hut))
- An [igloo](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=igloo) is a small snow house in snowy plains, taigas and slopes. Some hide a basement under the carpet with what you need to cure a zombie villager. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Igloo))
- A [pillager outpost](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=outpost) is a watchtower and its surroundings, home to pillagers. Their captains drop ominous bottles, which start raids and make trial chambers harder. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Pillager_Outpost))
- A [ruined portal](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=ruined-portal) is a broken Nether portal with some decoration and a loot chest. They are common in the Overworld. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ruined_Portal))
- A [shipwreck](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=shipwreck) is a sunken sailing ship, common in oceans and rare on beaches. It can contain up to three chests, with a chance to find a buried treasure map. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Shipwreck))
- [Ocean ruins](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=ocean-ruin) are underwater ruins, of stone bricks in cold oceans and of sandstone in warm ones, where drowned roam. They hold buried treasure maps, emeralds and pottery sherds. In the warm ones you can also find sniffer eggs. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ocean_Ruins))
- A [buried treasure](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=buried-treasure) is a single chest buried in a beach, the spot marked on treasure maps. It is the only source of the heart of the sea, which you need for a conduit. Java only here for now. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Buried_Treasure))
- [Trail ruins](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=trail-ruin) are the buried remains of a lost village in heavily forested biomes: an archaeological site full of suspicious gravel to brush. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Trail_Ruins))
- An [abandoned camp](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=abandoned-camp) is a small campsite with a wool tent, chests, barrels and copper chests, in many Overworld biomes. Its chests can hold explorer maps to other camps, trial chambers and ancient cities. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Abandoned_Camp))
- A [Nether fortress](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=fortress) is a large complex of Nether brick bridges, corridors and towers. Blazes and wither skeletons spawn only there, and it grows Nether wart. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Nether_Fortress))
- A [bastion remnant](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=bastion) is a big castle in every Nether biome but basalt deltas, in four layouts, guarded by piglins and piglin brutes. It is the only place with the netherite upgrade template and the Pigstep disc. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Bastion_Remnant))
- [Ruined portals](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=nether-ruined-portal) generate in the Nether too, just as often: search them with your Nether coordinates. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Ruined_Portal))
- An [End city](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=end-city) is a tall tower on the outer islands of the End, full of shulkers and good loot. Some have an End ship, the only place with elytra and a dragon head. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/End_City))
- [End gateways](https://mcseeder.com/tools/structure-finder/?type=end-gateway) are small portals on the outer islands of the End that take you back to the main island. ([wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/w/End_Gateway))

Descriptions reworded from the [Minecraft Wiki](https://minecraft.wiki/) (show them love, one of the best wikis out there, just after [the big one](https://www.wikipedia.org/)).

## Questions

**Why is it different from what my friend sees?** Check the version and the edition first: structure placement changes between Java and Bedrock and between versions. Large Biomes worlds have different biomes, too, so pick the right world type.

**Is the structure really there?** The positions come from the same math the game uses, and are checked against what the game generates. Some of them may not be precise on Bedrock, since the game will skip some spots for reasons nobody knows yet.

**How far does it search, at most?** Up to 16k blocks from you, the nearest 128 at most. For buried treasure and End gateways, which are basically everywhere, up to 1k.

**Why are some strongholds marked ≈?** Since 1.19.3 the exact spot of a far stronghold costs a lot to compute, so only the 8 nearest to 0, 0 are exact. The others are within about 112 blocks of the shown position.
