# Slime chunk finder

Find the slime chunks of any Minecraft Java seed on a grid you can explore, and the best AFK spots, ranked by the chunks in range.

Slimes can spawn in swamps at night, or in slime chunks below Y 40, where they spawn at any light level. About 1 chunk in 10 is a slime chunk. Type your seed and coords and look for the best spot for your farm. Usually, a one-chunk farm is more than enough.

## How to use it

1. Type /seed in the chat to find your seed, and put it in (on a server, ask your server admin to do it).
2. Type your coords in X and Z (or leave them empty) and press "Find slime chunks".
3. Look around (drag the grid) and click a chunk to get its coordinates.

## Where slimes spawn

Nothing spawns within 24 blocks of you, and a slime more than 128 blocks away despawns immediately. The active slime chunks are therefore the ones between the two circles (always below Y 40).

## Questions

**Are slime chunks the same in every version?** In Java Edition they depend only on the seed. Only the height changed: since Beta 1.9 slimes spawn below Y 40, while before they spawned only up to Y 16. In Bedrock, slime chunks are the same in every world.

**Do slimes spawn in swamps too?** In [swamps](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Slime) they spawn between Y 51 and Y 69, at a light level of 7 or less, more often on a full moon and never on a new moon. This tool only shows slime chunks.

**How high should I AFK?** Below Y 40, at the level of your farm.
